BTU Group of Companies – 50th Anniversary

We were thrilled to be asked to take some commemorative photos to help mark the occasion of the 50th anniversary for the BTU Group of Companies who have been trading at the same address in Guildford for all of those 50 years.

Also present at the celebration was the Mayor of Guildford, Councillor Diana Lockyer-Nibbs who was entertained by the Chairman of the group, Mr. Paul Merritt and his wife, Penny. The company has been in the same family since it’s inception back in the late 1960’s  which in itself is something of an achievement!

Here are are few photos of the day….

Emma, Chris (and bump)!

We had such a lovely time taking a whole manner of different poses of Emma, Chris and of course – ‘bump’ to achieve some beautiful maternity portraits that Emma and Chris can cherish forever. We shot with different backdrops, filters and different lighting to get some wonderful results in our portrait studio in Woking.

A big thank you for Emma and Chris for being so easy to photograph as well as being up for the challenge, the results speak for themselves.

Looking forward to meeting the baby and hopefully getting some gorgeous new born baby portraits and family portraits very soon. We wish them both all the best.

A thought about professional portraits

Photography always seems so technical …..

……..  and there always seems to be so much emphasis on equipment, techniques, styles, lights, cameras pixels and so on but when it comes to portrait photography you are dealing with people, not equipment.

Yes of course it is very important to have a professional portrait studio with professional photographers but unless they can deal with people – you – the portraits will always suffer as a consequence.  People are what make a portrait whether it’s babies, toddlers, families (and pets), it’s they that are the most important and central part.

It takes a great deal of effort and often planning to get large families together, especially if siblings are older and no longer living at home. It’s absolutely paramount that people are guided to bring out their best especially as most of us will at some point in our life felt uncomfortable or uneasy in front of the lens. If a calm and relaxed and quietly confident environment is offered then for the most part people will fall into that relaxed mood and more often than not really enjoy the experience.

None of this bears any relation to how well the lights perform or how many million pixels you can offer on your camera. People respond to people and if you hide behind the technology then you may as well be a robot, that’s not to say a robot couldn’t take a good picture but I’m sure a robot couldn’t make a six month old baby laugh or a self aware teenager feel comfortable or even a family of ten all look and smile at the same time, well certainly not any of the robots I’ve ever met!

I’m not saying that good quality studio equipment isn’t necessary to produce high quality professional portraits, I’m just saying that it’s easy to forget the priorities here, after all it really isn’t about what you’ve got but what you do with it.

Corporate Photography Shoot

We were delighted when we received an inquiry from the Director of the BCW Group (Gothia) Limited, based in Worthing who had been recommended to Frazer Green Photography via a mutual friend.

A corporate photography shoot made up from south coast landmarks, particularly in the Brighton and Worthing areas incorporating the South Downs.

The images were to be printed on 40” TV sized canvas prints and displayed throughout two floors of their very modern and recently renovated office block, from the board room right through to the staff canteen.

So with the challenge set, it was off to work from Woking to Worthing. Early mornings and praying for good weather, kit packed, flasks and packed lunches!

In the meantime we teamed up with our local printing company Woking Print who did an amazing job for us and even when the deadline was brought forward by the client they delivered on time, I can’t recommend them enough.

Once the canvas prints were hung throughout the office, they looked amazing, and the feedback has been just as good.

Here are a few of the prints on the walls, to see a selection of the whole photography collection click here

Here’s some feedback from the client:

“Most businesses look at putting up Inspirational artwork in their offices and in my experience they never really inspire people, that’s the reason I wanted artwork that was relevant to the area we all live and work within, therefore the theme was “Landmarks in Sussex”.  I contacted four businesses for ideas and quotes and Frazer-Green stood out from the crowd. I dealt with Nigel and he came up with some incredible ideas, he could meet my requirements and he was very competitive on price. Throughout the whole process Nigel kept in communication with me and met the challenging deadline which I had to bring forward.

Once the canvases were hung the offices were truly transformed and the feedback from the staff was fantastic. I have Clients visiting our offices on a weekly basis and some were so impressed they are now in discussions with Frazer-Green to transform their place of work. I would definitely recommend Frazer-Green Photography and will no doubt use them again in the future”.
